A floral feminine wrap maxi dress is a perfect outfit for a date night.
I enjoy easy outfits which don’t require too much planning or coordination. For warm summer nights, I really like this floral wrap dress by Wink Gal. It’s super romantic and girly, and the cut and design are very slimming. The V neck is pretty deep making it most appropriate for a romantic night out. It’s too low of a cut for me to wear it as is, so I wore it with a black camisole. If you’re in the market for a date night dress that makes you feel girly, go with this dress and you won’t have any regrets.
Also, its always a good idea to have a good stock pile of basics. Camisoles are my go to item for fixing all difficult to wear items. When I was purchasing this dress, I knew I wouldn’t have the courage to wear it as is due to the low neck line or else I’d give every one an unwanted show. I have a drawer full of tanks and camisoles to wear as undergarments and as night shirts, but my latest favorite discovery is by Jockey. Here is a link to buy these on sale.
Accessories: Below you can see how I wore this maxi dress. I kept the accessories to a minimum and out on gold and teal earrings which I purchased from Amazon for under $10.00. The heels I’m wearing are a bit of a splurge for me. I bought them earlier this year when they finally went on sale for under $100.00 on Amazon by Gwen Stefani.
Makeup: This is a very quick and simple look which involves minimum amount of products. Always starting with my favorite moisturizer by Estee Lauder, I put on a little foundation, setting powder, peachy blush, pink lipgloss, and lots of coats of mascara.By the way, if you are in the market for an amazing and inexpensive mascara, give this one a try: Essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara . You will absolutely thank me. Unfortunately the price i’m seeing on Amazon is quite high as it sells for $4.99 at Target! This mascara gives length and volume and the brush separates and coats all the eye lashes (even the tiny ones near the inner eye corners) really well. After my makeup was complete, I blew dry my hair and parted it to the side and considered it done. I like having freshly washed hair without product weighing it down or hairspray freezing it to a solid stiff hold from time to time.
This simple outfit with minimal makeup and accessories will have you ready and out the door in no time!
Hope everyone had a great July 4th! I love this holiday as it gives us a chance to get together with friends and family, BBQ food, spend some quality time and watch fireworks! We decided to watch them at Fairplex in Pomona. It was their 30th annual show and they seem to get better every year!
Summer Fashion: I never take living in Southern California for granted as we have pleasant weather all year round. Even in the middle of summer, our nights a comfortable cool 70 degrees. After a long day of cooking and mingling, I wanted to be comfortable while watching the fireworks. I chose to wear jeans, a worn-in tank top, and a kimono style cover-up.

Boho Style Kimono: I absolutely love this versatile cover-up with a bohemian vibe. It’s comfortable and soft and is a great addition to your wardrobe as it can be worn all year round. The color is dark blue with beige flowers and it actually looks prettier in person. This top is a mix between a kimono and a shawl. It’s a one size fits all style that can actually fit women of all different shapes and sizes as the sleeves aren’t sewn in which is a great plus!On a side note, this would obviously be a great swimsuit cover up, but can definitely be worn outside the pool as well.
Celebrity Inspired Layered Necklaces: Find them ON SALE here!
Layered Necklaces: I like keeping my jewelry to a minimum so I generally only wear one or two pieces at most. I’ve been loving the Layered Necklace trend lately – it’s a great time saver to put on one necklace but get the effect of a few delicate mix and match type of pieces. To add to the hippie vibe to my own outfit, i wore a long layered gold and blue necklace which was very inexpensive on this site! I kept my hair natural with loose waves and curls which I quickly achieved with a 2″ barrel curling iron. I knew there would be a lot of walking so I opted for simple flats. We walked around the park while waiting for the Fireworks show to start and I remained comfortable and felt stylish enough for date night with my outfit choice.
Foolproof – Easy step by step directions to achieve a sultry look in no time!
Here are a few tips on how to achieve a simple yet sultry makeup look in minimum time. A good rule of thumb that I always try to follow is to choose one feature and use makeup to enhance it while keeping the rest of the face pretty minimal. In this example, I chose to play up my eyes – this doesn’t mean I neglected the rest of my face – rather I kept it natural.
Here are step by step directions on how I achieved this look:
First order of business- attend to your skin! If your skin is healthy, clean, and fresh- all your hard work with makeup application will pay off by not allowing your skin to look cakey and dull. Wash you face and neck with a good facial cleaner. Here’s my all time favorite: Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser
A face primer comes next especially if you are planning to keep the makeup on for the entire day. After leaving the primer on for a few minutes to set, the foundation can be applied. There are many techniques to applying a foundation – some use their fingers, some a kabuki brush, and some prefer application through sponges such as the beauty blender. Do what works for your skin- key thing to keep in mind is to blend out the foundation so your skin can still breathe and show through. Here is my favorite foundation that I’ve been using religiously for about 5 years – Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup . I love this product! Estee Lauder Double wear foundation stays on all day and gives you a flawless finish while allowing you to look fresh and looks natural. This foundation feels lightweight and comfortable and doesn’t smudge or rub off even in hot and humid weather. A little bit of concealer to brighten up the under eye, and you are ready to work with colors.
Eyes: Feel free to apply your favorite darker shade color on the lids and then smoke it out towards the outer corners of your eye. I chose purple hues as I find that to be a universally flattering and easy to work with shade. This the product I used: Sugarpill Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadow, in Poison Plum. After shadow application, be sure to line your waterline with a black waterproof eyeliner and draw a winged line on top of your eyelid. I also lined my water line using a waterproof black eyeliner by Estee Lauder. Mascara and falsies (if time permits) are a must for this look as it’s all about the eyes! One of my recent favorite lashes are House of Lashes Falsies in Iconic.
Cheeks:I used Milani Baked Blush in the color Luminoso for my blush. It is a flushed peach color with an understated gold tone with a slight hint of shimmer. I’ve found this blush to be universally flattering on all skin tones and it has great staying power. When applied with a brush, it blends beautifully very quickly and buildable from sheer to vibrant. Hint: If you’ve always wanted to buy Nars Orgasm blush but don’t want to spend $28+ on a blush, this option is pretty close- slightly pinky peach with gold undertones!
Lips: I applied a liquid lipstick from Anastasia Beverly Hills first in a light pink shade since they have amazing staying power. Then i topped off my lips with a quick coat of chapstick to prevent dryness. This step wraps up this make-up looks and I guarantee anyone can follow these steps and successfully complete this look under 15 minutes! Since most products I mentioned are universally appealing, women of all shades and colors should feel comfortable trying them out!
I first came across Poo-Pourri on Amazon last holiday season when it was being advertised on one of their lightning deals where most product are about 20% below their normal retail price. The title is catchy, the bottle packaging is pretty, and the product claim honestly made me curious. This is their unforgettable catch phrase: “Spritz the Bowl Before-You-Go and No One Else Will Ever Know!” Then I started noticing the commercials on TV with a beautiful spokesmodel with perfectly coiffed hair and an English accent.
I researched the product a little more before purchasing it to better understand how it works. Amazon’s product description and the brand’s website stated that Poo-Pourri is a pure blend of natural essential oils. When spritzed into the toilet bowl (before using the toilet!), the products natural oil blend creates a film on the surface of the water. This creates a barrier which traps odor under the surface – allowing only the scent of Poo-Pourri to stand out. It comes in about 30 different varieties of scents and various sizes ranging from a mini travel size 2 oz spray bottle, all the way to a 16 oz family size bottle.
All the reviews I came across were very positive – the Amazon listing for this product actually has over 7000 reviews, and Poo-Pourri is rated 4.5 out of 5 stars. That’s really impressive in my opinion! I thought no harm could be done even if the product didn’t work as well as the reviewers were suggesting when it came to masking odors – for the very least I could use it as an air freshener. The big decision was trying to first decipher their scents (as they all have cool and unusual names), then selecting which specific one I wanted to try. I came across the following info on the web which I found pretty useful. Though this list doesn’t cover all 30 plus different scents, it had enough options for me to try my first scent. I ended up getting the original which is a mild citrusy blend.
After trying it once, I was totally hooked! The product seriously works wonders if you have a toilet which gets high traffic. Even if that’s not the case, spritzing it seriously makes your bathroom smell like a relaxing spa. I’ve also tried the Heaven Scent which is really sweet and flowery, jasmine to be exact. Definitely smells extremely feminine, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing! If you want to try them out, Amazon has literally all their scents available in various sizes – plus I like their return policy just in case a scent happened to be too strong or unpleasant. I have also seen a couple of varies in CVS stores.
This product was really popular back when I was a high school kid. I remember watching late night infomercials with various celebrities who promised shiny and voluminous hair which was easy to manage just after one wash. I honestly thought it was just an advertising gimmick. Then several years later I stumbled upon it on Amazon. I was looking for a good hair product for dry and over processed hair and Wen products had a ton of positive reviews.
Wen cleansing conditioner is advertised as a 5 in 1 formula, and is supposed to takes place of your shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, detangler and leave-in conditioner. They say that it cleanses hair thoroughly without lather or harsh ingredients and won’t strip hair of its natural oils. The product claims to leave hair with strength, moisture, manageability and better color retention. It comes in several year round scents such as sweet almond mint, pomegranate, lavender, cucumber aloe, green tea and fig. New scents are usually available around the holidays such as ginger pumpkin and apple spice or autumn and winter cranberry mint for Christmas season. They all smell heavenly. One of my recent favorites is the Tea Tree cleansing conditioner – it smells refreshing and lightly tingles your scalp.
I’m a low maintenance girl when it comes to hair care and I’ve never used 5 different products after a shower, but this was an amazing find as a replacement for a shampoo and conditioner. The first few times I used it I loved how my hair felt – shiny and silky smooth! However, I realized that after every few washes I need to wash my hair with a clarifying shampoo or else my hair starts to feel dull and heavy. Its been over five years since I first started using Wen cleansing conditioner and I have never stopped. It does get pricey with an average cost of $32 per 16 oz, but good hair days are worth it!
Though I’m generally satisfied with all the different formulas, after trying several of the scents I came to realize that some work better for my hair than others. I then visited Wen’s corporate website to find additional information regarding each formula, but wasn’t able to find anything. Then I stumbled upon Wen products while browsing qvc.com and found very helpful information regarding each formula. If you are considering trying Wen but need a little guidance with selecting which one is best for your specific hair type, the information below maybe useful.

You may start to observe that I love adding jackets to my looks. Your favorite leather jacket can perfectly take you from late summer temperatures to the cool beginnings of fall. This specific jacket is from Express. Its called (minus the) leather jacket, and I have it in the dark brown color. For the past few years Express has been bringing it back in their stores right before the winter months and it disappears right before spring starts. They offer it in black, and a lighter brown color. I have noticed that outwear from Express usually runs a bit large, but this specific style is pretty true to size.
My necklace is from a designer named Yochi. Each of her pieces are handmade in the New York Fashion District and they all have a unique quality about them- each piece looks like a work of art, adorning simple outfits and making them look special. This specific necklace feels like a statement piece. Its a shiny gold metal with a few rows of bright crystals. The classic collar design creates the ideal, vintage look and the ridges along with the crystals adds a special flair. It is perfect for matching with collared tops and sweaters adding a bit of edginess into prim and proper silhouettes. Since its a bit of a “loud” piece of jewelry, I stay away from adding any more trinkets so the necklace alone can get the attention it deserves.
The long black maxi racer back tank dress I’m wearing under my jacket is very light and comfortable. It was fairly inexpensive, around $20 by a brand called KMystic I found on Amazon. I’ve only washed it once so far, so I cant speak much about the quality yet, but I can say that the black color did not fade at all after the first wash and there was no shrinkage either. It’s a blend of polyester and spandex so it has a slight stretch and a hint of shine to it which makes is appear more expensive than its cost. It comes in about a dozen different colors but basing on the “thinness” of the material, I think its pretty safe to say that anything lighter than black will be at least semi sheer.
My hair is simply blow dried and I’ve kept my makeup pretty standard. Brown eye shadows with multiple coats of mascara and a slightly darker shade of pink lipstick complete this look.
Though I thoroughly enjoy dawning frilly frocks and gowns, at times I get my fashion inspiration from menswear. Its easy to look natural, effortless, yet put-together with clothes that have a slight androgynous vibe. The key to pulling the look off is often pure tailoring and proportion, paired with feminine accessories. Think pinstripes, blazers, oxfords, collared button down shirts and tailored trousers- styled with a chic, feminine twist.
Here I’ve kept my look fairly simple. The key piece to this ensemble is the oversized silky plaid pattered long sleeve button down shirt I purchased from Forever 21 a few months ago. Its easy to feel comfortable and freely move around in this billowy top which is another advantage from menswear inspired fashion.
Though I was not able to locate this exact shirt, below you may find a few similar plaid shirts to achieve a similar look:
The other clothing pieces are fairly simple and basic to not take away from the shirt. I have on a pair of solid black opaque leggings bye a brand called Hue which I also wore in a previous post. These have been washed numerous times and have not faded or pilled. Under my shirt, I’m wearing a black formfitting camisole.
I would like to point out the booties I chose to wear called the “Hesh Boot” by BCBGMAXAZRIA. Despite having a four inch heel, these shoes are quite comfortable to wear as they have a lightly cushioned footbed. Here’s a closeup so you can check out the details – high heels, rubberized sole, and 100% leather exterior with an open toe design.
A statement necklace which I purchased from Target last holiday season and red lipstick give just the right amount of feminine touch to this menswear inspired outfit. Though my exact necklace isn’t available anymore, I’ve included a fun colorful statement necklace example which isnt too over the top.
Although most of my wardrobe consists of basic staples in shades of black, I still try to create outfits which show my style and personality. Since I work in an office all day where impromptu meetings are often called, I strive to dress comfortable yet still polished to an extent. Luckily my office dress code is very business casual which gives me a lot of flexibility. Here is an example of what I wore to work a couple of weeks ago when the weather was a little cooler.
As I mentioned in a previous post, a pair of black comfortable over the knee boots are a wardrobe staple for every girl. My favorite ones are the Stuart Weitzman 5050’s – They are extremely comfortable, and true to size. I can walk miles in these and it feels like I’m walking on butter. These boots are offered in several colors and finishes, but the black napa leather is my favorite option. The leggings I’m wearing are super soft, stretchy, and opaque which is must- especially when your top isn’t long enough to cover your entire butt. These leggings by Hue have a wide waistband which offers comfort with style and stays in place all day; no pulling and tugging required! The basic black tee is light weight and hasn’t faded after going through at least twenty wash cycles. Its by a brand called Three Dots which can be found in most department stores and Amazon. It is great on its own or as base shirt for layering and it is available in over thirty colors! I own a few other colors besides the black one I’m wearing here, and they have all kept their original color and shape after multiple washes. Lastly, this Armani Exchange jacket is one of my favorites. Its a mix of faux leather and a jersey knit which makes it very comfortable and easy to move around in. I bought mine at the Armani store in Pasadena, Ca.
Notice the small pop of pink? Pink hello kitty crystal earrings, pink nail polish, and the pink gloss help me show my girly side. I have had these earrings for over two years now and they have yet to loose their shine. At just under $20 bucks, they are quite a steal. I tend to keep my makeup fairly simple for work; neutral eye shadows, a quick swipe of pink blush, and some pink lipgloss complete the look.
Here is what I’m wearing if you wanted to get a similar look:
I wanted to share one of my favorite dresses here. Honestly, this dress is a staple for every girl’s closet. It can be easily styled for the office, or for a night out. The minimalistic design along with the figure flattering silhouette is perfect for all body types. Here’s the fabric composition: 62% Polyester, 33% Viscose and 5% Elastane. It feels like weighty yet soft cotton with a slight stretch, hiding any imperfections perfectly.
It can be easily dressed up or down with other accessories and is appropriate for all seasons. I have worn it with leggings, jacket, and my favorite over-the-knee boots in fall and winter. Summer time requires no additional clothing staples; put on a pair of your favorite strappy sandals and instantly feel like a starlet.
It’s available in a few different versions to fit your style- one with a plain boat neck, another with a cutout in the front, and one with a sexy open back.
The first classic version is a fit-and-flare dress with an arched waistline and pleated skirt. It’s a sleeveless boat neck with a zipper closure. I have this dress in black, white, and blue. Yes, I loved it so much that I had to get in three different color!
The second version has a cut out detail in the front. Be forewarned ladies, this dress is a bit less modest as the cut out is strategically placed to show some cleavage. Though I didn’t feel comfortable with this version due to the cutout, it may be suitable for someone else.
I feel elegant in this simple yet standout dress every time I wear it. A word of advice, French Connection tends to run 1 size small, so a size 6 in most brands is a size 8 in French Connection. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
