Foolproof – Easy step by step directions to achieve a sultry look in no time!
Here are a few tips on how to achieve a simple yet sultry makeup look in minimum time. A good rule of thumb that I always try to follow is to choose one feature and use makeup to enhance it while keeping the rest of the face pretty minimal. In this example, I chose to play up my eyes – this doesn’t mean I neglected the rest of my face – rather I kept it natural.
Here are step by step directions on how I achieved this look:
First order of business- attend to your skin! If your skin is healthy, clean, and fresh- all your hard work with makeup application will pay off by not allowing your skin to look cakey and dull. Wash you face and neck with a good facial cleaner. Here’s my all time favorite: Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser
A good moisturizer comes next along with an eye cream to protect the delicate skin around our eyes. I’m a hardcore Estee Lauder fan, and have been using their skin care products for many years- Here’s my favorite go to face cream which perfectly moisturizes my combination skin and allows my makeup to go on smoothly – Estee Lauder Daywear Advanced Multi-protection Anti-oxidant Creme SPF 15 .
A face primer comes next especially if you are planning to keep the makeup on for the entire day. After leaving the primer on for a few minutes to set, the foundation can be applied. There are many techniques to applying a foundation – some use their fingers, some a kabuki brush, and some prefer application through sponges such as the beauty blender. Do what works for your skin- key thing to keep in mind is to blend out the foundation so your skin can still breathe and show through. Here is my favorite foundation that I’ve been using religiously for about 5 years – Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup . I love this product! Estee Lauder Double wear foundation stays on all day and gives you a flawless finish while allowing you to look fresh and looks natural. This foundation feels lightweight and comfortable and doesn’t smudge or rub off even in hot and humid weather. A little bit of concealer to brighten up the under eye, and you are ready to work with colors.
Now we are ready to play with makeup!
EyeBrows: To play up our eyes, we need to shape and define our eyebrows well. Here’s my go to product for grooming and filling in my eyebrows – ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – Dipbrow Pomade – Dark Brown.
Eyes: Feel free to apply your favorite darker shade color on the lids and then smoke it out towards the outer corners of your eye. I chose purple hues as I find that to be a universally flattering and easy to work with shade. This the product I used: Sugarpill Cosmetics Pressed Eyeshadow, in Poison Plum. After shadow application, be sure to line your waterline with a black waterproof eyeliner and draw a winged line on top of your eyelid. I also lined my water line using a waterproof black eyeliner by Estee Lauder. Mascara and falsies (if time permits) are a must for this look as it’s all about the eyes! One of my recent favorite lashes are House of Lashes Falsies in Iconic.
Cheeks:I used Milani Baked Blush in the color Luminoso for my blush. It is a flushed peach color with an understated gold tone with a slight hint of shimmer. I’ve found this blush to be universally flattering on all skin tones and it has great staying power. When applied with a brush, it blends beautifully very quickly and buildable from sheer to vibrant. Hint: If you’ve always wanted to buy Nars Orgasm blush but don’t want to spend $28+ on a blush, this option is pretty close- slightly pinky peach with gold undertones!
Lips: I applied a liquid lipstick from Anastasia Beverly Hills first in a light pink shade since they have amazing staying power. Then i topped off my lips with a quick coat of chapstick to prevent dryness. This step wraps up this make-up looks and I guarantee anyone can follow these steps and successfully complete this look under 15 minutes! Since most products I mentioned are universally appealing, women of all shades and colors should feel comfortable trying them out!
